Mazarat Madinah
First Day in Madinah
From Quba to where the camel knelt: how the Prophet ﷺ built a community from nothing
This journey tells the story of the Prophet's ﷺ arrival in Madinah after he left Makkah, as al-Samhudi relates it in his book Wafa al-Wafa. Across four stops: we begin at Quba, where he stayed and took part himself in building its mosque, then the valley where he prayed the Friday prayer, then we return to Quba for the story of a visit to a sick man, told by the elders of Banu Anif, whose date the report does not give, and we end at the spot where his camel knelt. It is a story about humility, about visiting the sick, and about a brotherhood that joined the Muhajirun, the emigrants from Makkah, and the Ansar, their hosts in Madinah.
